Our Studio proudly presents the work of
Tami Gatewood Comer
of Minden, Nebraska

Tamara (Gatewood Dorwart) Comer comes from a family rich in artistic history. Third cousin, Robert Henri, was the leader of the famous "Ash Can Art Rebellion" of the early 1900's. Grandmother, Theresa Dorwart, gained national fame as a sculptress and Father, John Dorwart is respected for his award winning watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings.

Growing up, Tami remembers many trips to art museums, shops and shows. As an adolescent, Tami tagged along with her father to painting workshops and on more than one occasion, was guilty of unauthorized use of her father's art studio and supplies.

"Art was a way of life"!

And it still is today. With a BFA degree in Fine Arts, Tami currently works as the Director of Marketing Designs for a hydraulic multiplier valve company in Kearney, Nebraska. Also, Tami, along with her husband Tom Comer, run a home-based business which encompasses all aspects of commercial art and design, fine arts and professional photography.

Today, Tami's paintings and design are influenced by her three children. Daughters Tadia and Cara and son Anthony (who in 1997 won an Art Competition in which his charcoal interpretation entitled "Too Sweet" was displayed at the White House for a period of one year). Tami is proud to say that all of her children show promise in the visual arts and hopes for another generation of artists in the family.

Our Studio is pleased to offer these wonderful "Whimsies" for your visual enjoyment...and card sending needs. We look forward to more 'creativity' from Tami's Studio.

We are most pleased to present our customers with the unique art of
John Richards of
Balfour, British Columbia

John Richards was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada on November 17th, 1951.  He studied art and education  at the Universities of Saskatchewan and Victoria, earning a B.Ed. from the University of Saskatchewan.  John taught primary school for four years, then spent eight years teaching art at a  high school in northern Manitoba before moving to Nelson, B.C. in 1988.  He presently resides near Balfour, a small community on Kootenay Lake in the B.C. interior.

“Upon examining some local soapstone from the Duncan Valley, I  discovered that  within each piece of stone there were many exciting and beautiful forms.  My role as an artist is to reveal a few of these forms.”

John also works with pen and ink and colored pencils.  His 15 years in northern Canada working with Native Canadians is a major influence on his work.

“Being curious, exploring this universe, investigating my role….these are the things I want to do.  On my journey through this life I  find that art is a useful tool in my search for awareness and understanding.”
